Audi reveals facelifted A1

Date: 14 November 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Audi has revealed a facelifted version of its A1 city car, which adds a 92/gkm CO2 diesel and 99g/km CO2 petrol unit to the range.

On sale from spring 2015, the three-and-five door facelifted A1 will cost from £15,640.

Powering the facelifted A1 will be a choice of two petrol units and a diesel unit.

Of interest to fleets will be the 92g/km (down from 99g/km in the previous iteration) version of the 1.6-litre oil-burner,/ It officially returns 80.7mpg on the combined cycle, up from 74.3mpg in the previous version.

Petrol-wise, the most frugal version is the 1.0-litre, 95hp, three-cylinder unit, which replaces the outgoing 1.2-litre engine, adding 5hp over the previous version.

The new unit is both turbocharged and has direct injection - which Audi said is the first three-cylinder engine with this configuration to figure in its range - and is expected to return "at least" 60mpg with emissions of 99g/km.

All engines will be linked to a five-speed or six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but Audi is also offering its 7-speed twin-clutch automatic 'box as an optional extra with all engines.
