Brake calls for increase in fleet safety checks

Date: 20 May 2014

Road safety charity Brake is calling on businesses to ensure that fleet vehicle safety checks are maintained as a key priority.

The organisation is holding a summer seminar on the issue aimed at company car managers that will examine legal procedures surrounding fleet management, mechanical checks, and reporting defects with employees' vehicles.

Sponsored by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, the day will help ensure that companies can devise an effective programme of essential safety checks.

Ellie Pearson, Brake's senior professional engagement officer, said: "We know at work drivers are an especially high-risk group on our roads and therefore it is incredibly important that employers go that extra mile to ensure their vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.

We would encourage any business that takes fleet safety seriously to send a representative to this event."

It takes place in London from 12.30pm-4pm on Wednesday, June 25. To book, visit www.brakepro.org or call 01484 559909.
