Businesses taking on more vans to cope with Christmas deadline, says Lex Autolease

Businesses are increasing their use of vans in the run-up to Christmas in an attempt to meet their deadlines, according to BC50 leader Lex Autolease.

The firm said it has seen demand for its short-term vans almost double and is providing 15,000 LCVs a day to businesses throughout December, compared to 8000 during the rest of the year.

The company said the demand is due to increased online retail spend and the need to transport more goods than in previous years.

"The appetite for online shopping is on the increase generally, and the festive season is always a notoriously busy period for commercial vehicles. With the added pressures of Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounting, we are finding that our customers were at full capacity by November," said Ian Drayton, senior manager in car & van Rental at Lex Autolease.
