Citroen has revealed a new concept of its C4 Cactus with fitted with PSA's hybrid air drivetrain.
The C4 Cactus Airflow 2L concept will debut at the Paris motor show next month and features technology similar to the recently revealed Peugeot 208 Hybrid 2L concept car (make link to previous story you did).
The hybrid technology comprises of a 1.2-litre, 82hp petrol engine as well as a compressed air storage unit. This enables the 2L to achieve a claimed 141mpg - or 2L/100km. No CO2 figures for the concept were released, but expect it to be very similar to the 208 2L - around 50g/km.
The French car maker claims the C4 Cactus Airfolow is a "a laboratory for new ideas" and the car is "packed with advanced technologies," that could appear in future production Citroen models.
This includes tweaks to the design, meaning there's a 20% improvement in aerodynamics, thanks to active aerodynamics on the front bumper, side deflectors that guides the airflow around the car and wheels that features mobile shutters that are activated and controlled by centrifugal force.
The concept car is also 100kg lighter than the production C4 Cactus thanks to its use of lightweight materials.
