Vauxhall has revealed the first pictures of its new entry-level model, the Viva, which will sit below the Adam in the A-sector. It will go on sale in spring 2015.

No prices have been announced yet, but Vauxhall said the Viva will be priced from "an extremely attractive price point." Expect it to cost significantly less than the base-spec Adam, which currently retails at £11,400.

As predicted by BusinessCar when it was first announced, the new Viva will use the 75hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo as seen in the Adam Rocks Air and new Corsa.

Over 1.5 million original Vivas were sold between 1963 and 1979.

"Short, crisp and full of character, Vauxhall's new entry-level model is a 'proper' small car and will hold great appeal in this rapidly growing sector, said Tim Tozer, Vauxhall MD.
