Audi has revealed the new A6 range comprising of the saloon, Avant and Allroad, which will go on sale from the end of this year.

Exact prices are unconfirmed, but Audi said to expect the range to start from £32,000 - a £2000 increase on the current base-spec model.

Of particular interest for fleets will be the new A6 Ultra, which is powered by Audi's 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel. It has 190hp, offers 64mpg and - crucially for corporate customers- emits just 114g/km of CO2.

Audi will offer all of the models its Quattro four-wheel drive system bar the 2.0TDI, which is front-wheel drive only.

Audi's S-tronic twin-clutch transmission system also replaces the outgoing model's CVT 'box in the front-wheel drive variants. A six-speed manual will also be offered.

Other engines in the range include the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel in a number of power options, ranging from 218 to 320hp. The S6 and S6 Avant will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol unit, which is rated at 450hp, 30.7mpg (in the case of the saloon) and 214g/km respectively.

The range-topping RS6 Avant is powered by the same engine, albeit in 560hp form, returns 29.4mpg and emits 223g/km.

Xenon headlights are standard on SE versions of the range, while the range-topping RS6 model will come with matrix LED lights.

"With the new Audi A6, we are writing the next chapter in an excellent success story. It represents innovative technology and Audi's premium claim," said prof. dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, board member for technical development at Audi.

"The Audi A6 sets new standards in many technical fields: the lightweight body containing many aluminum components, the powerful and highly efficient engines, the sporty chassis and the advanced assistance and multimedia systems, " said Hackenberg.
