Ford has released pictures of the all-new Ford S-max MPV ahead of the Paris motor show next month.
The new seven-seater will be available with two petrol engine - a 160HP 1.5-litre turbo and a range-topping 240HP 2.0-litre turbo, but more relevant for fleets will be the more efficient diesels. This time there's just one, a 2.0-litre with either 120-, 150- or 180HP with the option of either a manual and a dual clutch automatic.
For the first time there will also be an all-wheel version, although most sold to fleet buyers will stick with the traditional front-wheel drive.
Ford hasn't released fuel figures and emissions yet but expect both to be significantly better than the old car thanks to improved aerodynamics and a system that warms up the engine quicker.
Other new technology new to the S-max is LED headlamps that, Ford claims, is glare-free for other road users.
A pre-collision assist system will also be available that applies the brakes if it thinks a collision ahead is imminent. The S-max will also come with a self-park system and recent driver aids like traffic sign recognition, lane keeping alert and a driver alert system that detects a driver's tiredness.
Inside, the Ford is claimed to be far more sophisticated than the model it replaces with plenty of aluminium accents and an open and airy interior - especially when the full-length panoramic roof is fitted.
Ford has also focused on practicality. 'Easy-Fold' rear seats fold flat into the floor with a push of the button, while the interior has been designed to be as comfortable as possible with optional seats with inflatable cushions that adjust to reduce fatigue.
Like the first-generation S-max Ford engineers claim it will be a joy once you hit a tight and twisty road thanks to adaptive steering that quickens steering response on a challenging road.
Pricing is expected to be announced at Paris but expect the range to start at around £25,000 when the S-max goes on sale this summer 2015.
