Fleet registrations were up by 8.1% on the first 10 months in 2013, the Society of Motor Manufactures and Traders has announced.  So far this year 994,487 fleet cars have been registered.

The SMMT also revealed that last month's fleet registrations were up by 15.2% compared to October 2013. Just under 90,000 (89.718) fleet cars were registered last month compared to 77,875 in October 2013.

The figures reflect continuing expansion overall October was the 32nd consecutive month of growth and 2,137,910 cars have been registered to date this year.

The society said this is the first time the market has passed two million registrations since in October since 2007.

"The October new car market outperformed expectations, with registrations showing the strongest growth in a month since March's 18% rise. With economic confidence still rising, customers continue to benefit from attractive financial packages on exciting new models," said Mike Hawes SMMT CEO.
