Latest Euro NCAP crash testing results revealed

Date: 13 November 2014

Tesla's Model S saloon, the BMW 2-series Active Tourer, Skoda Fabia and Nissan's Pulsar have all been awarded the maximum five stars in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash tests.

The Model S becomes one of a few cars to have achieved a five-star safety rating from both Euro NCAP and the US National Traffic Safety Administration.

Tesla claimed the saloon is the only car this year to have been awarded both a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and five stars in every NHTA subcategory. The American car maker said only two others have achieved this result since 2011 when the NHTSA introduced the current ratings system.

The Renault Megane hatch was reassessed by the testing body and has had its rating increased from three to four stars. It failed to get four stars as its rear seatbelt status text wasn't translated into an adequate number of languages.

Suzuki's Celerio received three stars in the latest round of crash-testing, with the safety organisation criticizing its safety assists - the Celerio attained score of 38% in the subcategory.
