Over half of all motorists believe all drivers should have to pass a separate driving assessment before being allowed onto the UK's network of motorways.
Of the 1350 drivers surveyed, 52% said they wanted motorway-driving test introduced for all drivers.
The survey by short-term leasing company Flexxed.co.uk also found that 70% of motorists aged between 17-24 support a motorway driving assessment for all drivers.
Motorway fatalities in 2013 increased by 14% on the previous year according to Government figures on road casualties in Britain.
The numbers for the first quarter of 2014 shows a rise of 3% in relation to the same period in 2013.
"I think there has been a consensus amongst motorists for a long time that drivers should have to pass a test to drive on the motorway," said Alex Wignall, customer care at Flexxed.co.uk. "This is not something which applies to solely young drivers, as the latest statistics suggest they are just as likely to be involved in a motorway accident as any other driver."
