Peugeot reveals new 308 SW

Date: 06 January 2014   |   Author: Will Stretton

Peugeot has revealed an estate version of the lower-medium 308, known as the SW.

Larger in every direction than the last 308 SW, the new model is 8cm longer and 7cm taller than its predecessor.

It also has a 610-litre boot, which is 140 litres larger than the outgoing car's with the rear seats in place. The back seats also fold down in what Peugeot describes as "a single action".

Exact engine and transmission details have yet to be confirmed but Peugeot claims they will all be Euro 6 compliant.

The lowest-emitting variant will be the 1.6e-HDi 115 unit at 85g/km, which is 3g/km more than the 82g/km of the hatchback equivalent.

Various weight-saving measures have been employed and the latest 308 SW is 140kg lighter than its predecessor, which helps to improve fuel economy and emissions.

Peugeot will unveil the car in the metal at the Geneva motor show in March and it is due on sale later in the spring.
