Renault Megane scores three-star Euro NCAP rating

Date: 21 July 2014

The current generation Renault Megane failed to obtain a four-star Euro NCAP rating.

Renault's Megane has achieved just a three-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, but only because the rear seat belt status text isn't translated into more languages, said the car safety assessment organisation.

"The system for the rear seats uses text to inform the driver of the status of the rear seatbelts, and as this information was not available in all languages the system failed Euro NCAP's assessment," read the organisation's statement, which revealed that the car would otherwise have been four-star rated.

The new VW Golf SV achieved five stars in the latest round of test results released last week, while the Ford Tourneo Courier managed four stars and the Chinese-owned MG3 supermini could only manage three.
