Sainsbury's opens first supermarket hydrogen filling station

Date: 29 October 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Supermarket Sainsbury's has revealed it will open the UK's first supermarket forecourt hydrogen filling station by the end of the year.

Located at its Hendon store in north London, the supermarket says the station "will be able to fuel a growing number of hydrogen fleets".

The 700-bar station is owned and operated by Air Products, a hydrogen infrastructure company.

"Hydrogen vehicles are both environmentally friendly as well as efficient so we are really excited about being the first UK supermarket to trial this new technology and make it accessible to our customers," said Avishai Moor, fuel & kiosk category manager at Sainsbury's
