The start point for the best source of fleet information

Seat's first four-wheel drive vehicle coming late this year

Date: 27 March 2014   |   Author:

Seat is building up to the launch of its first all-wheel drive model with the 4Drive version of the Seat Leon ST, due to be on sale before the end of 2014.

Although the company is still working through the details, UK boss Neil Williamson told BusinessCar he is hoping for a raised version of the estate Leon with protective cladding in the vein of sister brands Audi and VW's Allroad and Alltrack models, as well as Skoda's Scout vehicles.

"It gives us a real opportunity and at the right time, going into autumn and winter, but we haven't made a call on it yet," he said.

"We're hoping to produce a car that looks like an Allroad, but it's early days." Williamson also confirmed that both petrol and diesel derivatives will be available.

The car is initially coming only in Leon ST estate form, although Williamson refused to rule out other models in the future.

The VW-owned brand is also looking to revamp its online business offering this year.

"We're looking at a bespoke fleet website. We do a bit of that but not enough and we need to work on it, get the infrastructure right," said Williamson.

"We will have the site this year; we've got the funding and sign-off for this summer."
