Steering issue prompts recall of 5678 new C-class models

Date: 14 October 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Mercedes is recalling 5679 new C-class customer cars, as well as 2466 unregistered cars, due to a possible steering fault.

The recall affects C-class models built between 17th January-22nd September 2014 and affects the steering knuckle that connects the steering column to the rack.

A spokesman for the company said the recall is a "precautionary measure." It is not in response to any incidents. He maintained that the cars are safe to drive and that customers are being contacted.

The spokesman added the work to fix the problem takes half an hour and if any customers are worried that their cars could be affected then they should contact their local dealer.
