The start point for the best source of fleet information

Telematics' strong start to 2014

Date: 04 February 2014   |   Author: Tristan Young

The telematics industry has had a strong start to 2014 with a host of new fleet deals.

Marshall Leasing has struck a deal with telematics firm In-Car Cleverness to make the latter's systems - such as location-based services and an automatic data feed that's HMRC compliant - available to the leasing company's customers.

Jonathan Ross, Marshall Leasing sales and marketing director, said: "Every business is different and we needed technology that not only allowed us to respond to those differing needs, but also provided a suite of services to help our customers manage their priorities, be that driver behaviour, improving fuel efficiency, lowering insurance costs or HMRC compliance.

In-Car Cleverness does that for us." Meanwhile, TomTom has reported another year of strong growth for its fleet management business after recording a 38% increase in its install base.

A total of 330,000 vehicles are now managed by TomTom Business Solutions' technology - up from 239,000 in January 2013.

Motrak is also experiencing a positive start to the year with the addition of the ability to merge fuel-card data. Paul Holdcroft, head of Motrak, part of Motiva Group, said: "Our new system is a major step forward in terms of the benefits it can bring to customers."
