Vauxhall revives Viva name for low-cost model

Date: 10 September 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Vauxhall has revived the Viva name for a five-door low-cost entry model, which will sit below the Adam in the a-sector.

On sale from next summer, the Viva will priced from "an extremely attractive price point" according to Vauxhall. Expect it to cost significantly less than the base-spec Adam, which currently retails at £13,000.

Vauxhall hasn't given any information what will power the new Viva, but expect the Adam's 1.0-litre turbo to appear. It produces 115hp and 114g/km CO2.

Over 1.5 original Vivas were sold between 1963 and 1979.

"This bold, radical name will attract attention and engender curiosity in the car," said Peter Hope, Vauxhall's Marketing Director.
