Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles scores fleet deal with North Lanarkshire Council

Date: 09 April 2014   |   Author: Martin Gurdon

Volkswagen Commercial vehicles is to supply 224 vans to North Lanarkshire Council.

The deal, for a mix of Caddy, Transporter and Crafter models, including tail lift-equipped versions of the Crafter, will see the German vehicle maker supplying nearly 50% of the Scottish council's vehicle fleet.

"We needed to replace a significant proportion of our van fleet, and I'm pleased to say that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has been successful in winning the majority of the business," said Kenneth Wilson, the council's head of land services.

"What tipped the balance in their favour is the fact that their products are so flexible in terms of allowing us to customise them to meet our needs.

"Similarly, they have extremely strong residual values compared to the rest of the market."
