Volkswagen extends fleet agreement with Sky

Date: 07 January 2014   |   Author: Will Stretton

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has sealed a deal with Sky that will see an additional 1120 vans supplied to the broadcaster's fleet.

As part of the agreement. 930 Caddy Maxi and 190 Transporter vehicles will be delivered later this month to Sky, boosting the broadcaster's fleet total to 2500 vehicles since the start of their partnership in early 2012.

The enhanced fleet will be used to help assist engineers employed by Sky in completing the thousands of home visits that take place every day to Sky's 10 million Sky TV and broadband customers across the country.

Sky said it selected the Volkswagen Caddy Maxi in particular due to its large load area - 4.2 m³ and a load length of 2.25 m - and its high level of standard equipment, while the Transporter was selected for its practicality and official combined fuel consumption of 40.4 mpg.

David Landy, fleet manager for Sky said: "We wanted vehicles that would give us best MPG, lowest CO2 and easy accessibility to our customers. We also wanted vehicles known for longevity, reliability and good residual values."
