Leasing company Alphabet has announced it has received over 1000 electric vehicle orders through its EV consultancy service AlphaElectric.

AlphaElectric was launched in November 2013.

The BusinessCar Awards-winning fleet management company also said it has taken more than 150 electric vehicle orders since the start of 2015 - more than of 20% of 2014's total orders.

A month ago the service supplier announced it had exceeded its 2014 target for EV orders by 24%. The firm is putting the growth down to an interest in electric vehicles as companies attempt to save money.

"We expected orders of EVs to double in 2015, but initial figures suggest that we could see an even greater increase. We're only one month into the year and already we've taken one fifth of the total amount of orders that we took in the whole of 2014," said David Bushnell, eMobility consultant at Alphabet

"With continued investment in both charging infrastructure and purchase subsidies for EV buyers, EVs have now become a viable option for many businesses," said Bushnell.

The leasing company recently announced it had delivered over 1000 vehicles through its broker programme, known as Alphabet Partner.

The programme was launched on 30 September 2014.

Nearly 5% (49) were electric vehicles, while 10% (90) were LCVs.

Alphabet said all of the transactions utilised Alphabet's funding products - contract hire, finance lease, contract purchase, personal contract purchase and personal contract hire.
