Audi, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen join Go Ultra Low

Audi, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen have joined the Go Ultra Low campaign, which works with the Government to raise awareness of ULEV vehicles.
They join existing members BMW, Nissan, Renault, Toyota, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and the Society of Motor Manufactures and Traders.
According to the SMMT, ULEV registrations in 2014 increased by 300% to 14,518 cars.
The Government currently offers up to £5000 worth of discount for new ULEV car sales as a way of encouraging drivers to go electric as part of its plug in car grant.
The Department of Transport recently announced that the criteria for the grant is being updated. From April, ULEV vehicles must meet criteria in one of the following categories:
- Category 1: CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and a zero emission range of at least 70 mil
- Category 2: CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and a zero emission range between 10 and 69 miles
- Category 3: CO2 emissions of 50-75g/km and a zero emission range of at least 20 miles.
Vehicles in all categories will be eligible for the fund - which reduces the price of cars by up to £5000 and LCVs by up to £8000 - until either 50,000 grants are issued, or 2017, whichever is first.
"More and more people are deciding a ULEV is the right choice for them. They are great to drive, easily chargeable at home or on the street, and cheap to use with running costs from 2 pence a mile," said Baroness Kramer, transport minister. "The government's £500 million investment will help more models become available to suit a wide range of budgets. This thriving industry will support jobs and build a stronger economy."
