The start point for the best source of fleet information

Audi R8 to go more eco

Date: 28 July 2015   |   Author: Tristan Young

Large capacity V10 supercars may not be fleet fodder, however, Audi, which has just launched the new 5.2-litre V10 R8, is understood to be working on much smaller engined version that should see CO2 emissions drastically cut.

Speaking exclusively to BusinessCar, Audi's head of its Quattro division Heinz Hollerweger hinted a lower powered R8 could be equipped with "either a five or six-cylinder" engine.

The V10 R8, with 540hp, has emissions starting from 272g/km and 24.8mpg, however a small capacity version could see a significant improvement in these figures and bring it within reach of senior directors.

The lower powered R8 is expected in around two years.
