Audi reveals Q7 diesel plug-in hybrid at Geneva

Audi has unveiled its Q7 e-tron Quattro at the Geneva motor show. It is Audi's second plug-in hybrid, and first plug-in diesel version. UK order books are expected to open at the end of 2015.
The German car maker said the e-tron Quattro - which combines a diesel engine and lithium-ion batteries - is capable of a range of up to 876 miles, with a CO2 figure of less than 50g/km.
It is powered by a 258hp 3.0-litre oil burner, which is mated to a 94kW motor and eight-speed automatic gearbox. Audi claimed it is capable of travelling 34.8 miles on electric power alone, and claimed this is a record in the segment.
Exterior-wise, new air intakes, 19-inch wheels and a rear diffuser have been specially designed for the e-tron Quattro, while the headlights are three-dimensional with the lights appearing as a double arrow.
Inside, the e-tron Quattro adds Audi's virtual cockpit, which presents different levels of information, including specific e-tron displays such as the power meter. Audi said the large display makes it possible to switch to a conventional tachometer or to display it alongside the e-tron meter. Audi's standard infotainment system, including internet access, is also available.
No pricing has been announced, but the standard 245hp 3.0-litre diesel in S Line Sport trim costs from £45,537.
