The start point for the best source of fleet information

Brake launches SME fleet safety resource pack

Date: 31 March 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Road safety charity Brake has released a free resource pack aimed at helping SMEs improve the safety of staff that drive for work and cut costs.

The pack is supported by the Department for Transport and will be published through Brake Professional.

The pack includes:

A guidance report outlining how fleet safety can save money, meet legal and moral responsibilities and protect communities.

Six driver advice sheets outlining six things drivers can do to protect themselves and people around them.

A PowerPoint presentation giving advice on policies to manage road risk including driver recruitment and training, vehicle maintence and journey planning.

Brake's 2014 guidance report.

"Making sure that staff driving on work time are safe can deliver significant business benefits, including reduced insurance premiums and improved reputation," said Julie Townsend, deputy chief executive at Brake. "Driving is the riskiest thing many people do at work, and at-work crashes, bumps and scrapes may be companies' biggest unpredictable cost, so it's vital for businesses of any size to manage this risk."

"It can be daunting for smaller organisations to put in place effective fleet safety practices, but these resources make clear the business case for doing so, and simple steps you can take."

The pack can be found here.
