DfT to paint motorway speed cameras yellow to boost visibility

The Department for Transport has announced it will repaint every working speed camera yellow on motorways and major trunk roads by October 2016.
The DfT said the move - which follows on from a review of speed camera policy on motorways earlier this year - will increase the visibility of the cameras.
Currently, signs must be placed before cameras to alert drivers, but the DfT hopes the colour changes - which will take place during standard maintenance - will make them easier to spot while driving.
There are currently 200 camera sites on England's motorways, with grey digital cameras first introduced on the M42 in 2006.
I've always been clear that cameras should be visible and get used for safety rather than revenue raising," said transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
"This move is about applying common sense to our roads. Speed cameras should make journeys safer rather than lead to dangerous braking," he added.
