On-demand rental service DriveNow has partnered with London City Airport, which means that customers will now be able to drop off or pick-up vehicles outside the terminal building.

The joint venture between Sixt and BMW uses a fleet of 290 vehicles spread across North and East London. The company claims it is the largest electric car fleet in London, with 50 BMW i3s on its books.

DriveNow said it costs 39p per mile to rent vehicles, with fuel, parking and insurance are included in the price. However, users will need to pay an additional London City Airport service fee of £2.50.

The car-sharing servicing is also available at eight other airport across Europe: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin.

"We are committed to giving Londoners a fully flexible solution to traditional transport methods - our partnership with London City Airport gives our customers a flexible way to travel in and out of the capital," said Joseph Seal-Driver, managing director of DriveNow UK.

"London City is the first UK airport to adopt DriveNow's car-sharing service and we're excited to be connecting London even closer to our other European cities," Seal-Driver added.
