EU wants to curb digger emissions

Fleets with plant machinery take note:

The European Union looks set to target the emissions of non-road machinery such as bulldozers, tippers, diggers, tractors and even mowers, following a vote by Environment Committee MEPs.

They have backed draft regulation that aims to curb emissions of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulates. Cranes, however, have been given and exemption.

According to the European Commission, the EU's executive body, 15% of all NOx and 5% of particulate matter within member states comes from these non-road mobile machines.
