Lexus has revealed its facelifted GS executive saloon ahead of its debut in the UK in autumn, with prices and specifications due to be announced in September.

The 2016 model year GS now features LED headlights and a new front bumper and door sill along with new alloy wheels.

Safety-wise, the GS introduces a suite of driver-assist technologies Lexus Safety System+  aimed at reducing the chances of collions.

Lexus Safety System+ includes a pre-crash safety system with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, an adaptive high beam system, traffic sign recognition and an active cruise control system.

The cruise control system tracks the speed of the vehicle ahead and adjusts its speed accordingly to help remain a preset distance to the car in front.

Lexus claims the system is capable of adjusting acceleration and deceleration smoothly when a vehicle enters or exits the lane or road ahead of the GS.

The pre-crash safety system is capable of detecting other vehicles and pedestrians using radar technology and a front-facing camera. Lexus says the system can automatically brake if necessary, while the lane-keep assist feature uses the camera to scan lane markings on the road surface to trigger alerts to the steering wheel if the car strays from its lane.
