Fiat has revealed its new 500 city car ahead of its arrival in the UK this September. It will be priced from £10,890.

From launch, the 500 will be powered by a 69hp 1.2-litre petrol and the firm's TwinAir two-cylinder petrol unit with either 85hp or 105hp, all carried over from the current model.

The lower-powered version emits 90g/km of CO2 - down from 92g/km in the current 500 - and returns 74.3mpg.

After launch, the engine range could be expanded with the 1.2-litre engine gaining an 'Eco' version and a 95hp 1.3-litre diesel.

The diesel emits 89g/km of CO2 (down from 95g/km CO2 in the current model), however Fiat has yet to confirm if the units will come to the UK or not.

Two body styles (hatchback and convertible) will be offered from launch with three trim levels - Pop, Pop Star and Lounge.

All models have LED daytime running lights, seven airbags, the firm's Uconnect infotainment system, Aux and USB inputs as standard, while the Pop Star version adds air conditioning, body-colour mirror caps and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Top of the range Lounge versions are equipped with a panoramic sunroof, rear parking sensors, a chrome front grille and front foglights.

Active safety systems on the new 500 include ABS with electronic brake distribution, anti-slip regulation, Hill Holder, and hydraulic brake assistance to help with emergency stop.

Pricing will be announced in the coming weeks, and BusinessCar will be driving the new 500 later this month.
