Ssangyong has revealed its 2016 model-year Korando, which now meets the Euro 6 diesel emissions standard.

The new 2.2-litre engine produces 178hp, up 19.4% compared to the outgoing 2.0-litre Euro 5 diesel, while CO2 emissions have dropped to 139g/km, from 174g/km, and fuel economy has increased to 53.3mpg from 47.1mpg.

The facelifted model now offers the choice of four or two-wheel drive and either an automatic or manual transmission.

Exterior changes include a black radiator grille and new-look alloy wheels, while inside, the Korando features an upgraded infotainment system.

The base-spec Korando SE model is priced from £15,995 for two-wheel-drive variants or £17,495 for four-wheel-drive versions. Standard equipment includes a cloth trim level, air conditioning, a Bluetooth-equipped radio, cruise control and roof bars.

The mid-spec EX models are priced from £17,495 (two-wheel-drive) or £18,995 (four-wheel-drive) and adds features including heated front seats, a seven-inch touchscreen linked to a reversing camera, rear parking sensors and 17-inch alloys.

Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range four-wheel-drive-only ELX-spec Korando is priced from £20,995 (manual) or £22,495 (automatic) adds leather seats, a TomTom navigation system, chrome detailing and 18-inch wheels.

"This is a significant evolution for the Korando," said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong UK.  "The power upgrade brings greater refinement,  No other car in its class has such a strong towing capability, nor such a comprehensive warranty for complete peace of mind."
