Infiniti has revealed its QX30 crossover - which is set to compete against the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA - ahead of it going on sale in the UK next year.

Based on the Audi A3-rivalling Q30 hatchback, the jacked-up QX30 is part of what Infiniti calls its "global growth strategy".

No pricing or engine details have been confirmed, but it is likely to be powered by the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine that feature in the QX30.

Speaking at the Los Angeles motor show, Roland Krueger, president of Infiniti, said: "The QX30 active crossover is joining our new premium compact family at the right time and will broaden our offer to new customers around the world."

"With our recent sales successes and record growth, the current product offensive will further strengthen Infiniti's global market position," he added.
