Volkswagen has shown a facelifted version of its Touran MPV ahead of its debut at the Geneva motor show next week. It goes on sale in the UK in November.

Two petrol and three diesel engines power the revised Touran - a 1.2-litre 110hp and a 1.4-litre 150hp unit on the petrol side.

Diesel-wise, a 1.6-litre 110hp, a 2.0-litre 150hp and a 190hp 2.0-litre engine are used. Efficiency figures have not been released yet, but expect more information to be released closer to the model's launch.

Volkswagen said all engines feature stop/start technology and brake recuperation systems as standard, and that the engines are 19% more efficient than the current models.

The German car maker claimed it is bringing an unprecedented level of active and passive safety to the Touran's segment. The new systems featured include an automatic post-collision braking system as standard, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and trailer assist.

VW claimed the five-seat version of the Touran has the biggest luggage compartment (1040 litres) in its class, while the second row of seats can be folded down to merge with the luggage compartment floor.

Inside, the facelifted Touran features a new infotainment system with DAB radio as standard. MirrorLink software, Apple CarPlay and Android's Auto software feature too.
