Land Rover has confirmed it is building a convertible version the Range Rover Evoque. It is due on sale in 2016.

The British car maker revealed the model ahead of its debut at the Geneva motor show in a video showing it driving through the Crossrail tunnels in London.

Land Rover showed a concept version of the car in 2012 at the Geneva motor show.

The brand said the Evoque Convertible will be built alongside the three and five-door versions of the 4x4 model at the firm's Halewood plant.

Land Rover said it would announce further details about the model later this year. A facelifted version of the Evoque is due to go on sale in 2016, and is also making its debut at Geneva this week.
