Fleet incident management company FMG has signed a three-year agreement with Police Scotland. FMG said it expects to manage 25,000 recoveries a year.
The contract covers policing across Scotland, which formally consisted of eight forces, but have recently merged to become one force.
The firm will also provide forensic facilities, vehicle storage and vehicle disposal services. FMG already provides the recovery service for a number of police forces, including the Lancashire force.
"We are pleased to be working in partnership with FMG. It means there is one single contract for this service instead of the different arrangements which existed under the former legacy forces," said superintendent Jim Leslie, Police Scotland.
"A major benefit for Police Scotland is that the new structure will release police officers from administrative duties and their return to operation roles will assist in keeping people safe," said Leslie.
