Infiniti has replaced its 3.0-litre V6 diesel in its facelifted Q70 with a new 129g/km CO2 2.2-litre diesel unit.
The Japanese premium brand's BMW 5-series rival is on sale now priced from £32,650 and includes LED front and rear lighting. BMW's 190hp 520d SE is priced from £32,265 and has a CO2 output of 114g/km.
The Q70's 170hp four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel is supplied from Mercedes as part of the firm's co-operation with Infiniti's parent company, Renault-Nissan.
The 129g/km CO2 engine is mated to a standard seven-speed automatic transmission with paddleshift (depending on model) and standard equipment on the entry Premium trim includes chromed accents on the front grille, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, satellite navigation, 18-inch wheels and leather seats with ventilation.
Infiniti is expecting the new engine to take the majority of Q70 sales in the UK. Infiniti registered 746 sales across its range in the UK last year, a rise of 93.6% over its result in 2013.
Optional extras include intelligent cruise control, lane departure prevention and blind-spot intervention, Bose Premium Surround Sound with 16 speakers and Around-View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Forest air-conditioning.
As well as the 2.2-litre diesel engine, the Q70 for 2015 is also available with a 3.7-litre V6 petrol and a 3.5-litre 145g/km CO2 hybrid.
Prices for the Q70 range between £32,650 and £44,100 and it is on sale now.
