The start point for the best source of fleet information

Licencecheck launches real time licence checking tool

Date: 09 March 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Driver licence checking and monitoring company Licencecheck has launched software, which allows companies to check licences in real-time.

Dubbed RealTime, the service uses the DVLA's new online technology. The firm claims its product is the first to market ahead of the DVLA's open service IT platform, which is being introduced ahead of the abolition of the paper licence counterpart in June.

The software will also allow company car drivers the option of providing consent to check licences, Licencecheck says the system will cut administration time dpwn for fleets compared to the current papr consent form.

RealTime is currently undergoing trials ahead of its launch in April. The firm told BusinessCar it charges per licence check and the cost depends on the volume and frequency of checks. "For larger fleets, it would be fair to say that it can cost less than a gallon of fuel per check," said Richard Brown, Licencecheck managing director.

"It's an exciting time for the licence checking industry with the upcoming DVLA changes and we're thrilled to be at the forefront of this with our RealTime software," said Brown.

"While there is still a place for the traditional method of licence checking, being able to check licences immediately is a massive advantage for companies, saving time and money."
