The start point for the best source of fleet information

Mini updates Connected app

Date: 03 August 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Mini is updating its free Connected app later this month with new features and a simplified interface.

Included in the update is a new feature, dubbed Streetwise. It allows users to display the best journey route on a smartphone before journeys begin. The app uses personal driving data as well as past journeys to show information including duration and estimated fuel consumption.

If several journeys to the same destination have been recorded, the feature will calculate the user's personal best route as the recommended option, Mini said.

Once the smartphone has been connected to the vehicle, the information can be displayed on the car's instrument panel.

Other tweaks include showing the vehicle's location, fuel level, possible range and last journey recorded under the "Status" menu item, while all available and installed applications that can be used in the vehicle via the Connected function will be found under "Apps".

A smartphone's online search feature is also integrated into the car, meaning places and addresses can be found online and transferred to the firm's navigation unit, while a calendar can be synced to the vehicle, showing appointments and to-do lists in the vehicle display.

The new Mini Connected App is available to download from mid-August from Apple iTunes and Google Play on compatible devices.
