New Megane to emit from 86g/km

Renault has confirmed its new Megane line-up will have a frugal 86g/km CO2 option when it arrives in the UK next summer.
From launch, six engines will be offered - three petrols with outputs of 100hp, 130hp and 205hp, and three diesels delivering 90hp, 110hp and 130hp.
Renault said the core of the Megane range will be 110hp diesel, as it emits 86g/km of CO2 with fuel consumption of 85.6mpg.
The French car maker also confirmed a diesel hybrid model will launch in 2017. The firm is targeting sub-3 litres/100km figures (94.1mpg) and is predicting that the CO2 emissions be in the region of 76g/km.
Renault said the hybrid will be able to achieve these figures thanks to energy recovery systems that operate during braking and deceleration.
Inside, the 2016 Megane will feature a colour heads-up display, which is claimed to be a class-first system, a seven-inch TFT display and an 8.7-inch infotainment system.
The vehicle's boot measures 434 litres, which is claimed to be the second largest in the compact car sector.
Meanwhile, driver assistance programmes include adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane departure, safe distance and speed limit warnings, which can all be controlled via the touchscreen.
