Peugeot to mimic Audi's S-line

Date: 29 January 2015

Peugeot is hoping for fleet success with the introduction of a high-spec, sporty-look trim level that mimics the way Audi's S-line operates.

Available to order now on the 308 hatch and estate, the new GT-line trim level replaces the Feline spec and offers the looks and equipment of the fastest 308 GT, but with less powerful, and more efficient, engines.

Peugeot expects 55% of GT-line cars to be driven by business car customers, with total sales of 1700 a year. The fastest GT models will account for a further 900 308s.

Across the two trim levels, 80% will be diesel and 81% will be hatchbacks, according to Peugeot.

A Peugeot spokesman said they hoped the GT-line cars would attract buyers who have previously bought other brands.

In the 308, the GT-line cars include bolder grille, twin fake chrome exhausts, tinted rear side windows, sports seats with red stitching, leather steering wheel, and aluminium pedals.

A 508 GT-line will also arrive in the UK in March, the same time as the 308 equivalent. Peugeot has also committed to adding a GT-line to the RCZ range and has hinted other models - starting with the 208 and 108 hatchbacks - would also gain the new sporty, high-spec trim level.

Prices for the 308 GT-line will start from £21,445.
