Renault Kadjar to cost from £17,995

Date: 04 June 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Renault has confirmed that its Nissan Qashai-sized crossover, the Kadjar, will be priced from £17,995 when it goes on sale in September.

The entry-level model is the 1.2-litre 130hp petrol in Expression+ trim. It emits 126g/km and returns 50.4 mpg, placing it VED band D and the 20% BIK bracket.

The most frugal model in the range, a 1.5-litre 110hp diesel, is priced from £19.895 in the Expression+ trim level. It emits 99g/km of CO2, returns 74.3 mpg, putting it in VED band A and the 17% BIK bracket.

Four trim levels are offered - Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav and Signature Nav. Standard safety features include ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control with traction and understeer control, cruise control and a speed limiter.

The Kadjar shares its underpinnings with the Qashai and it appears the styling has been inspired by its sister model too, combined with the Renault-family front end.

Expression+ models include an automatic electronic parking brake, front foglights, LED daytime running lights, a seven-inch TFT instrument, Bluetooth, a USB socket and DAB radio.

Dynamique Nav adds 17-inch wheels, a cornering function on the front fog-lights, dual-zone climate control, the firm's R-Link 2 multimedia system, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and automatic headlight beam adjustment.

Dynamique S models gain 19-inch wheels, parking sensors and leather and cloth upholstery, while the top of the range Signature Nav models add full LED headlights, a panoramic and a Bose sound system.

Renault said crossovers accounted for 23% of the market in Europe in 2014, and its Captur achieved 178,000 registrations across Europe in 2014. The firm said the Kadjar will "maintain Renault's offensive in the crossover segment".
