Skoda Fabia wins What Car? Car of the Year award

Date: 08 January 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The Skoda Fabia has won the latest What Car? Car of the Year Award, as well as the Small Car of the Year prize.

The Fabia also scooped the main award 15 years ago in 2000. The Fabia 1.2-litre 90 SE petrol model beat off 25 other competitors to win the award.

The judges praised the Fabia's engine, saying it combines "punchy and flexible performance with impressive efficiency."

"The Fabia is a fully deserved winner of our most sought after award - not just because of the fact it is a well-equipped and practical small car, but also because of the big name rivals it has disposed of in the process. We've driven and evaluated all of its rivals and, whichever way you cut it, the Fabia is the most rounded small car on sale in the UK today," said Jim Holder, What Car? editor.

Land Rover's Discovery Sport won the magazine's inaugural Car of the Year Safety Award, and Audi's A3 e-tron won the electric award.
