South East Coast Ambulance Service takes on 55 Skoda Octavias

Date: 21 July 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Skoda has been awarded a contract to supply its Octavia lower medium vehicle to the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The vehicles will be deployed as front-line rapid response vehicles across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and north-east Hampshire. So far, 35 cars have been delivered, and 20 more are on the way later this month.

SECAmb said it chose the Octavia 2.0-litre diesel 4x4 in SE trim because it represented good value for money. The vehicle returns 61.3 mpg, emits 120g/km of CO2 and has up to 1740 litres of boot space.

The vehicles will be driven by clinical operations managers and paramedics.

"Our patients need the reassurance that we are able to get to them in their hour of need and our staff deserve to operate in a comfortable space, with all the kit they need to be clinically effective," said SECAmb head of fleet operations, Justin Wand. "We saw the Skoda Octavia as the perfect match, as it is built to a high specification, is environmentally efficient and is great value for money."
