Techies 2015: Winners revealed

Date: 25 August 2015   |   Author:

The BusinessCar Techies, the only awards dedicated to the intelligent use of technology in the fleet marketplace, have returned.

For the seventh time, BusinessCar has set out to reward the best technology offered to and in the corporate marketplace through our Fleet Technology Awards - the Techies.

Their popularity has grown year on year since BusinessCar first came up with the idea back in 2009, with the sheer number of entries making it even harder to select a winner in the 10 categories that cover the sector. In fact, for 2015 we had a monumental 66% increase in the number of entries, a big jump that continues the upward trend we've enjoyed every single year.

For 2015 we have maintained the categories we used last year, which we feel give ample credit to the various areas of business car operation, but we do have a welcome addition to the expert judging panel.

As well as BusinessCar's editorial team and technology-obsessed Contributing Editor Tristan Young, we invited TRL, the UK's Transport Research Laboratory, to participate in the judging, following the launch of its own independent accreditation scheme for in-vehicle apps and technology, about which you can read more in the next issue of BusinessCar (8 September).

Stephanie Cynk, human factors researcher at TRL, agreed to assess the written entries, and admitted that, like the other judges, selecting winners from the 300-word submissions on which the Techies are judged and awarded was "much harder than she had imagined".

Each of our 10 categories has a winner, selected from the submissions each entrant put forward, and we have also chosen a maximum of two Highly Commended entries in situations where the judging was so close we felt it worthy of recognising the technology that narrowly missed out on the top prize. Not every category has a Highly Commended entry, so those taking this accolade are also impressive in their own right and should be proud of their achievements.

See below to find out which technological products, services and innovations we feel are doing the best to make fleet managers' lives easier, cheaper, safer, cleaner and smarter in 2015.
