Toyota Rav4 hybrid on sale in the UK early 2016

Date: 07 April 2015   |   Author:

Toyota has confirmed its facelifted Rav4 will come available as a hybrid and it will go on sale in the UK early next year.

The Japanese brand unveiled the new model at the New York motor show and it features a full hybrid system mated to a 2.5-litre petrol engine. CO2 emissions and mpg figures have not been revealed yet.

The 2.5-litre petrol hybrid system in the Lexus NX, the small SUV in Toyota's premium brand range offering, has a CO2 output of 112g/km and a power output of 197hp.

Toyota will be hoping the Rav4 hybrid can compete against the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid, which has sold more than 10,000 units in a year. The Outlander PHEV is priced from £28,249 including the £5000 plug-in car grant.

The Rav4 hybrid is all-wheel drive, it has a towing capacity of 1650kg and comes with a trailer sway control system.

The unveiling of the hybrid coincides with tweaked exterior styling, improved cabin quality and new safety features, according to Toyota.

New design changes include an update to the front of the car, full LED headlights for the first time, new rear combination lights and a new rear bumper.

Interior updates include a new full colour touch screen display and "soft-touch" materials.

New technology features include Toyota's 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control and an upgraded Pre-Collision System.

Full UK specifications and pricing will be announced nearer on the on-sale date early next year.
