Transport for London acquires four hydrogen Toyota Mirais

Transport for London is set to take on four Toyota Mirai hydrogen vehicles by the end of the year.
Toyota said it will deliver 12 vehicles to London by the end of 2015, with eight of these cars being used by private hire fleets and 'green' businesses including energy and storage and clean fuel company ITM Power.
TfL's vehicles will be used to assist with engineering and maintenance work carried out between bus stops and tube stations.
There are currently seven hydrogen cars in London, but the mayor's office expects this figure to triple within the next year, thanks to the arrival of the Mirai and hydrogen-powered ix35s from Hyundai.
Two public hydrogen refueling stations operate in London (Hendon and Heathrow) as well as a third station in Leyton that provides fuel for London's fleet of eight hydrogen buses.
TfL said that five new stations would be operational by the end of 2016.
"It is fantastic that London will benefit from these new state-of-the-art hydrogen vehicles," said the mayor of London, Boris Johnson. "By embracing this technology of the future, we aim to consolidate hydrogen's role as a practical alternative fuel for the 21st century and beyond."
Johnson added: "I am sure that Transport for London will provide the ideal environment for us to see everything the Mirai can do and, in doing so, take another great step towards improving air quality in our city and protecting the health of Londoners."
