Volvo adds smartwatch connectivity to On Call App

Date: 27 May 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Volvo is updating its On Call smartphone app to add connectivity to wearable technology such as the Apple Watch and Android Wear.

The update will allow owners of the 'wearables' to control settings, lock and unlock vehicles and locate and use services from their wrists.

The update to the app also includes a redesign based on the XC90's driver interface, while it will also see the addition of enhanced 'send to car' capabilities for navigation purposes.

The free update is due to be released at the end of June.

"Volvo On Call is an app that allows you to literally take control over everyday elements in your Volvo. You can set heater timings for those cold and frosty mornings or cool down your car in hot weather, check your fuel level and mileage, or time to next service," said David Holecek, director of connected products and services at Volvo Cars. "It even helps you to locate your car in a crowded parking garage."
