VW Caddy to be priced from £13,500

Date: 19 June 2015   |   Author: James Dallas

Volkswagen has announced prices for its new Caddy panel van before it goes on sale in September.

Prices at launch start at £13,500 for the Euro5 C20 Startline short wheelbase model, which is powered by a 2.0-litre 75hp engine and rise to £21,455 for the Euro5 140hp DSG six-speed Maxi Highline version.

The flagship Highline trim starts at £16,650 - all prices exclude VAT.

The range is completed with the mid-level Trendline trim.

Maxi versions of the fourth generation Caddy add 469mm to the SWB's 1781mm length and increase load volume from 3.2m3 to 4.2m3.

The entry-level Startline comes with standard equipment including electric windows and heated and electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a five-inch touchscreen radio system with DAB+ and Bluetooth capability, a lockable glovebox and safety features such as driver and front passenger front, side and curtain airbags, a new post-collision braking system and a seatbelt reminder.

Trendline prices start from £15,670 and in addition to Startline this trim gets full wheel covers, body coloured bumpers, handles and wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, multi-function display, driver's lumbar support, under-seat storage and sun visors with vanity mirrors.

Step up to Highline and you gain alloy wheels, front fog lights and daytime running lights, climatic air conditioning, heated front windscreen, automatic dimming rear-view mirror, Thatcham category 1 alarm and windscreen wipers with intermittent control and rain sensor.

At launch the Caddy is offered with three 2.0-litre EU5 engines, ranging in power from 75 through 102 to 140hp as well as an EU6 compliant 2.0-litre unit with 102hp. When Euro6 becomes mandatory in September 2016 VW will replace the 140hp unit with a 150hp powertrain.

All models come with a five- or six-speed manual gearbox but the higher powered versions can also be optioned with a DSG automatic gearbox (with six- or seven-speeds).

Euro5 models can be specified with the fuel-saving BlueMotion Technology (BMT) modifications of start/stop system and battery regeneration but Euro6 versions are BMT as standard.

The most economical model is the 2.0-litre EU6 102hp five-speed manual BlueMotion. It can return 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 114 g/km, according to VW.
