Alex Smith named as new Nissan MD

Nissan has appointed Alex Smith as its new UK managing director.
Smith takes over from James Wright who has been named as the vice president of Nissan Europe East, overseeing several countries, including Russia and Poland.
Prior to joining the Japanese manufacturer Smith was the director of Volkswagen UK, and he has previously worked for Kia, Daewoo and Ford.
"With more than 20 years' experience in the UK automotive industry and a solid track record, Alex will be a tremendous asset to our business," said Guillaume Cartier, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Nissan Europe. "Alex's appointment will strengthen our organisation's ability to operate in an increasingly complex business environment and ensure we meet our goal of becoming the most desirable Asian brand in Europe by 2020."
