The start point for the best source of fleet information

Alfa Romeo Giulia powertrains revealed

Date: 01 March 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the full range of engines that will power its lower medium, Jaguar XE-rivalling Giulia lower medium saloon.

Previously, the only confirmed engine was the 510hp 2.9-litre V6 range-topper.

The new engines are: 200hp 2.0-litre petrol, 150hp 2.2-litre diesel, 180hp 2.2-litre diesel and the aforementioned range-topping V6.

Fuel economy and CO2 consumption details have not yet been revealed, but Alfa Romeo will be aiming for the diesel engines to drop below the magic 130g/km of CO2 barrier in order to appeal to fleet customers.

Three trim levels will be offered - Giulia, Super and Quadrifoglio - with UK specifications to be confirmed at a later date.

Alfa Romeo also revealed that a new eight-speed automatic gearbox would be mated to the new engines.

Meanwhile, safety kit to be included with the Giulia includes the firm's Forward Collision Warning system, an Autonomous Emergency Braking function, while optional extras include Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning and Blind-Spot Monitoring devices.

Prices have not yet been announced for the new Giulia.
