All-new Ford Ka+ revealed

Date: 08 June 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Ford has revealed its new Ka+ supermini which joins its line-up alongside the fleet-favourite Focus and Fiesta models. Set to rival the likes of Fiat's 500 and Hyundai's i10, the new five-door hatchback will be available to order from this month with deliveries starting later in the year.

Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which produces either 70hp or 85hp, all cars come with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.

CO2 emissions for this unit are rated at 114g/km for both power outputs and the Ka+ returned 56.6mpg combined during its round of official testing.

The Ka+ is shorter than the Fiesta, but 29mm taller, which Ford claims provides the vehicle with best-in-class front headroom and rear legroom, while boot space is rated at 270 litres - 20 litres less than the Fiesta.

There's a choice of two trims: standard and Zetec. Kit  in the base models include a radio with Bluetooth connectivity, a tyre deflation detection system and a speed limiter.

Zetec models add 15-inch alloy wheels, aircon, a DAB radio and parking sensors.

"Ford has a proud history of offering affordable small cars that are practical, economical and fun-to-drive," said Jim Farley, executive vice president and president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Ford. "Ka+ is true to that tradition, packing a huge amount into a compact car that delivers agile driving dynamics and a surprisingly roomy cabin at an affordable price."

Prices start from £8995.
